Location of Fort: Peyton, CO
This fort is a cone shaped butte. Fremont's party was looking for a pass thru the mountains when they were surprised by a large war party. Fremont and his party fought their way to the butte where they held off the Indians until two scouts escaped and went to a settlement for help.
