Participants: Soldiers at Fort Laramie against Cheyenne and Sioux encampment.
After some shots were fired at a soldier operating a ferry on the Platte River, 23 men under the command of Lt. Hugh Fleming were sent out to arrest the Indian in a 600 lodge camp. An argument broke out and shots were fired. 3 Indians and no soldiers were killed.
