Participants: Lt. Charles Stambaug with a28 Soldier detachment of the 2nd Cavalry against 200 Lakota Sioux warriors.
2 men were killed on the Shoshone Reservation and Stambaug with his detachment went out to investigate. After following a trail for 14 miles, they ran into about 200 Sioux warriors. 2 Indians and 0 soldiers were killed.
