Location of Battle: Fort Washakie, WY
Participants: Six Cavalry soldiers under the command of Lt George H Morgan against one Ute Indian.
Ute Jack was stirring trouble and the troopers went to investigate. The Ute resisted arrest, was shot in the arm and then he grabbed a rifle and shot the sergeant of the detachment. 1 Indian and one soldier were killed.
